Last weekend 28.-29. October, final round of Austrian nats was held at Mac Amstetten. The track is really small and very technical. The temperatures were below 20 degrees but grip was perfect. There were about 35 entries is both categories 1/10 and 1/8.
Weekend started perfectly for me. Just a few setup changes and my XRAY NT1 worked great. In timed practice I drove fast turns with good durability. After qualification I was on second place only Gerhard Kandelhart could defeat the pole with a 2 sec spot. In semifinal I struggled a little bit with the cold surface of the track and so I only get the 3rd place in the final behind Franz Engel/XRAY on 2nd and Gerhard Kandelhart on pole.
Race started well and no troubles at all. Kandelhart and I could sweep up between the rest and were fighting for the 1st place. At half of race I saw that Kandlhart drove longer refuel turns than me so I decided to take the safe version of race with 5 minute-turns. After 45min of race Kandelhart had 7 stops and I had 10 stops. At the end I was only 14 sec behind Kandelhart on lucky 2nd place and I had enough points at all to be the new Austrian Champion in 1/10 nitro.
